I Hate Garages

So I just got back from Monsieur Muffler who completely replaced the pieces of my muffler, for a whopping $500. I feel completely jipped. I hate going to the garage 'cause as soon as they see me walk in, I swear they can sense that it'll be easy to screw me over. I used to always take my car to an excellent mechanic, who made sure not even his brother touched my car. Once his brother did and 30 minutes of driving later, I noticed a huge bubble in one of my tires, after that, he was the only one who worked on it. He worked at a family business that he owned with his cousin. They sold it and he went to work at Canadian Tire, I think, where there was less responsability (so he could spend more time with his family) and most likely better pay. No I'm left out in the cold with a piece of shit car and mechanics know I'm easy money....

To top it off, I had my winter tires put on yesterday where I waited for 4 hours. At least I got a lot of work done but man....was it long. While I sat in the waiting room, there was this old lady , also waiting for her car, reading a book. It looked almostos though she was trying to hide what she was reading. Obviously I had to find out.... SO after walking around and looking at everything, I saw the title "The fat women next door is pregnant" What the hell? People actually read this stuff? I felt so much like laughing, I pretended to blow my nose for about 5 minutes!

at least they did a quick job. its always a mixed blessing with mechanics - I find friends can do too much or too little. Either way, the car is 16 years old, problems always surface no matter what you fix. I think we're going to seriously have to consider a new/used car in the spring/summer. We've already done almost 2K worth this year; which to be honest isn't too far off my civic when I had it, (I remember a 800$ maintenance bill) but if we're not keeping the car much longer...
